The rest of the title is: From the Trauma of Residential School to Becoming the NHL’s First Treaty Indigenous Player. This is the autobiography of the first Indigenous player in the NHL. I am not really a hocky fan but I am a fan of passionate people. The author is passionate not only about hockey but also about people and this comes out in his writing. As a residential school survivor, there has been significant tragedy in his life that has had lasting effects on him and those he loves. I felt this was an honest portrayal of his experiences including points of pride and regret.
